Wiwili Pastors
Here is a conversation with the pastors from the area of Wiwili…
Sep 23 2008
Barry, Ignacio, Manolo and I went to “Celebration Biblia” in Asturias at the invitation of three of the pastors who minister in that area. Two of those ministers were Javier and Gilmer who we had already interviewed. Among hundreds of people we “bumped” into two of the young men(16 or so) who were at the retreat in Feb. We asked them what they had learned and how they were doing. Their answers blew us away. Ormond told us, “he now knew he was an image bearer of God and he needed to carry that wherever he went.” The second young man Darwin responded, “I know what a Christian man looks like, a man of adventure and need to live that way.” We had a great talk, some of which we got on video.

Pastor Javier is a very interesting character. His life has obviously been changed in a mighty way by the power of the Lord. Bringing him into a powerful relationship with Christ… this man is very anointed.
He has a beautiful family and church family. Javier is the pastor in Dantanli. God’s people there are very gifted and those folks are close to the Lord. We are excited about the impact that NWA is having in his community and pray that the Lord will continue to use us there.
Here is our interview with him:

We made a very important connection while in Wiwili. Vice Mayor Carlos was very gracious. He would have gladly allowd us stay in his home if we desired to but we had already committed to a hotel. He showed us around town and we had breakfast in his home on Sunday Morning. We have one up on Ted (as if this is a competition) on knowing someone that he does not; especially since he is in Government.
But anyway, This man will be key in seeing another Boot Camp, if God so wills it, come to the North West regions of Nicaragua. We desire it for sure. We will see what God says. Here are the pictures from this leg of the trip!

Saturday morning, Barry, Manolo, Ignacio and I set out for Wiwili and locals in between. Our mission: to encourage, mentor (and be mentored) the pastors and families that came to the February Boot Camp at Camp Vida Joven. This was such an amazing blessing and journey for us. Not an easy trip, the road was no better than the worst dirt road I have been on in all my adventures in the States. The picture below does not do it justice. However, the trip was well worth it.
For those of you that came to NWA’s Nicaragua presentation this last March, you may remember Pastor Gilmer and Javier. Gilmer is from Asturias and Javier is from Dantanli. Both of their congregations came to Dantanli. Mark made the comment that He had never seen such unbridled worship in men. These men have the joy of the Lord. I will upload interview’s with them tonight or tomorrow. God has worked in their lives. It was very good to see some of the fruit of the Boot Camp in their lives.
Later, once we got to Wiwili, we met with 2 more pastors who also came to Boot Camp. Pastor Jose Antonio and Bonogues. This community is very very poor, really as most all of them here are. However, this one is especially poor. But, they have the joy of the Lord. They welcomed us with love and blessings and some kind of white and hot corn mash like drink. This is the location where David and Nancy Webb are trying to build a building for the Church there. More from them with their interview’s later.
We ended our trip with a little adventure. We we arrived in Wiwili, we met a pastor who did not get to come to the Boot Camp. His ministry is really growing and they are in need of land and money to accommodate the growing need. After visiting with him, we went to our hotel. Or what we believed would be our hotel.
The reservations were made but there was no room at the inn! We were very blessed though by seeing another hotel that was actually much better than the first. The food was a little scary, but we met it with strength and did well.
Continue to pray for us and we will upload more soon..

We have been very blesed to know and spend time with Pastor Ignacio, formally with Shalom Baptist, here in Jinotega. We are glad that he seems so alive and full of the Spirit. It has been good to see him walking in his passions and desires. Here is the interview we had with him.

New Wilderness Adventures is very privileged and blessed to have Ted Alexander as the chairman of the board with NWA. Ted is an awesome and good hearted man. He has many talents given to him by the Lord. All of his friends know this of him. His friends in Nicaragua know this as well. His good heart has reached the city of Jinotega in Nicaragua. Below are some people that really love our beloved Mayor Ted.
Firemen in Jinotega going through some training. The Jinotega Fire Department has been very bless by the different churches and communities around Shelby. They have brought gear, Jaws of Life, technique books and many other things.
Me and Barry with Fire Chief Jose and his right hand man! Jose said that our brother Ted was very humble and he has been blessed by his friendship and the friendship of NWA.
Men who came to our Feb boot camp. The Fire Chief Jose said that these men have begun to show great character since the boot camp and that they listen and are very responsible. He said that they have learned to respect danger and risk but to approach it with wisdom and discernment.
Our friend Joey Hamrick wanted us to visit with Omar from Shalom Baptist. He was not home, but his family was. We enjoyed praying for their homes and visiting with these two Princesses… they too said to tell Ted hello as well as Joey
Barry and I were able to minister a lot today to people on the street and in homes. Here is Rodrigo Everetz. Rod was our translator when we were here in Feb. Pray for Rod, he has had some difficulties as of late with his past. We had a good time visiting and encouraging each other in the Lord.
Here is Pedro Zeas, Director of Music for the Music School here in Jinotega. We were able to spend some time with him and the students. Ted had given us music and an instrument to give to them. Pedro really loves Ted. He went on and on about how good Ted has been for Jinotega and for the Music School and how excited they are to come to Shelby in the Spring. If you want to help the Music School you can email me and I will contact Ted.
Here is some equipment the Fallston NC Fire Department donated to the Firemen here. The Chief Jose said they average 25 calls a month for fires or rescue. However, they are not equipped with vehicles or tools for most rescues. If you are interested in helping the Fire Department. Let me know as well.
We really are proud of the ministry that Ted does here in Jinotega. We chuckle a lot while we are here about how many people know Ted. His influence is far reaching here for the Kingdom of God.
