Fierce Love

My name is Gregory Love Sailors.  As a child and even as a young man I really wasn’t happy with my parents for naming me “love.”  I was teased and called “lover boy,” “g-love,” love daddy” and so on and so forth.  It was not easy for sure but God really had a plan for me and it was partly encompassed in that name.

My great grandfather’s name was “Love.”  I never knew him but I remember stories from my father and later from my mother about his strength, his wisdom and yes his love.  He was a carpenter that late in life (70ish) was called to be a preacher and then a church planter.  I wish I could have met him; I’ve been told he was an amazing man that had hands that, “told their own stories.”

I hold his name sake and now am very proud of my name.  It really has become a blessing and I believe a module or standard for my life.  God wants me to love like He does!  Through the linage of my family, whether my father’s family or mother’s family, each side has had great lovers of God and of His people as well as those that do not know Christ.  On their shoulders I stand.

As you most likely know if you are reading this post, NWA is going to Nicaragua in just a few hours and my prayer is that the blessings I have had from my family and from the Spirit of God will be made manifest in and through me in everything I and our Team does while ministering to the families in Nicaragua.  Mark’s advanced word was that we preach, “Christ Crucified.” as Oswald Chamber’s says and as Saint Patrick’s Breastplate would say, may Christ be in every ear that hears us, every eye that sees us, every mind that thinks of us as well as Christ before us, behind us, above and below us, to our right and left as well as in our past and future.

Fierce Love will move upon the people of this earth!  Let that Love prevail over darkness and bring Light in all and through all!  Amen!  Thank you all for your prayers!  More to come!

iPod

Me and a friend just returned from a trip to Atlanta where we did some training and got to spend some time with Ron of www.moreron.com and his lovely wife and children.  Our training was in Villa Rica GA and this really only has a little barring on this blog…So, on the way down to Atlanta we talked and occasionally listened to the radio and the trip took like 4 hours through rush hour in Atlanta (oh joy) and stops etc.. on the way back I hooked in the iPod.  And in 10 minutes we were home.  It was an amazing thing.  Not only is the iPod a nice tool that accommodates lots of media but apparently it also has a space-time continuum mode.  Kryssy and I also experienced this on our way to Florida back in January.  I assume that if we were to talk about this fact while on the trip however, that the fast transportation would not work.Thoughts to ponder!

Hilton Head Boot Camp

Every man and woman has core desires.  John Eldredge says that a man’s desires are, “a battle to fight, a beauty to rescue and an adventure to live” and says that a woman’s desires are, “to be fought for or pursued, an adventure to share, and a beauty to unveil.”

For years, I had no idea that the heart of God was adventurous.  I had frankly always saw God as alone going about His affairs in a very stately way with maybe a scribe by His side and some servants that would run out to carry His orders.  However, God has shown me the truth of His existence.  He is not alone with a lightning bolt (as in old Greek/Roman mythology) but rather in a great fellowship, the greatest fellowship the Holy and Mighty Trinity.  Father, Son and Holy Spirit walking as one in a cohesive loving and merciful but all-powerful and healing relationship with us, His beloved that He has chosen and we have chosen in turn.

God is so loving, He can heal and touch even the deepest things in our life that we believe untouchable or so distant or even vile or dirty that why would a holy and pure God want to have anything to do with.  Let me give you an example, some of you may be thinking about an event in your life.  Maybe you have a deep and dark wound in your life or you, through your actions caused someone else a lot of pain and hurt.  Do you feel like God can meet you there?  I know it’s cliche to say that He can, all the church marquee signs say so at least but it’s true, He can and wants to meet you there.  Consider Isaiah 61:1-3:

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.  He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion-to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.  They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.

God understands that there are deep broken places inside of us.  He understood mine and met me at the place of my addictions, my veil and dirty places and He did not condemn me or smack me around or use a heavy hand.  He loved me through them.  He did bring convictions but with that He brought amazing hope and guidance.  He brought people into my life that spoke such truth and gave sound guidance and teaching.  God intends for all to know Him as Lord and for those that do to be whole.

This past weekend, New Wilderness Adventures had an amazing Boot Camp.  We were in Hilton Head for one of our Living Room series boot camps.  God was intent on guidance, healing and initiation.  It was an awesome time for everyone and God was so gracious in His love and kindness.  Men were healing from past wounds, getting called into larger missions, revealed to more truth from God and ushered into more masculinity.
