The Family Church

This past weekend, Jamie and I had the opportunity to speak at a Band of Brother’s kick-off in Gainesville Florida. These guys are strong warriors and are on the threshold of major breakthrough as a group and individually. It was exciting to see their walks with the Lord and to see their raw desire. It was our honor to be there with them and we look forward to continued fellowship and hopefully seeing them at Boot Camp in October.

Men's Ministries Their group is called “Man2Man”

“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”
Proverbs 27:17 (NIV)

Please be in prayer for Ron as he facilitates the group. Blair is the leader guy and T-Bone seems to be the catalyst. There are from 6-15 guys involved. Also be in prayer for their pastor Max who is working diligently with men as well with his Joshua’s Men ministry.

It is awesome to see a church working with their men. As we know, this is not normal. I pray for irreversible change in the men and then families of Family Church. I pray for mighty warriors to rise, for them to fight for the hearts of their loved ones and pray against anything the enemy would say or do against them. Please join me in this prayer!

Ron, who is facilitating, as mentioned, and his wife Sue were great host. We are very thankful fr their hospitality. Ron showed us the sites of Gainesville and held us at gunpoint to take this picture. We of course are Tar Heel Fans… Go Heels!

Nooma/Rob Bell

In 2002 and 03 I went to Catalyst. It s a leadership conference in the Atlanta area. It’s designed to help enable you to find your passions and desires and equip you to go and live in that. Check out the link. While there with a buddy, one of the speakers was Rob Bell. Rob is a prophetic and anointed teaching pastor at his church Mars Hill Bible Church . It’s in Michigan. I first saw him while at Youth Specialties . That was in Tampa in 2001. Anyhow, God really used his stories of the early church and being a Christ follower to make my relationship with Christ more real. I really grew in my relationship with the Lord with this new truth. It is/was a marked time in my life of growth. While at Catalyst Rob unveiled his Nooma Project. It blew me away and it still does. I have added a clip below from one of the teachings.

Friends, he is speaking truth and I want to encourage each of you to go and purchase these DVD’s. They are an asset to your home library and your families growth as believers.

We use them a lot for our home church and our bands of brothers/sisters and I know it will draw you closer to the Lord and to each other while stepping on your toes ;-) Sounds great to me!

Yet Another Fishing Story

Been very blessed as of late to do a lot of fishing. Randy C. a dear friend of mine came up to visit this past weekend. His sacrifice of time and love in my life was very instrumental in bringing me to the freedom and life I have now. I thank God for Randy and his obedience to the Lord. He lives below Atlanta and is a Fisheries Biologist. Very smart fella and it’s very interesting to go fishing with someone that takes care of fish and lakes etc for a living. He was picking up muck in the river, sea grass algae looking stuff and smelling it, tasting the water..He was like, this is Aleaicak Spinarifita, or something like that. This is very good for the water he said. Oxygenates the water and makes for good habitat.

Well, he was right. We caught fish like crazy. We were in the French Broad River in Hot Springs NC. We caught like 30+ Smallmouth Bass a piece. It was so much fun! We had great fellowship and sharpening for our hearts.

Take a look. Wanna go? Sure you do!

Texas

Ye Haw…We took Jack on his first trip on an Airplane. That boy, he is amazing. He did great, course we knew he would. We went to Lancaster Texas to visit some friends, do some ministry, have some adventure and go to the Ameriplan Convention. All of which were awesome. God really blessed and gave us so many opportunities while we were there.

Kryssy and I both had opportunity to share the hope that is within us. Personally, I had the opportunity to meet with a group of me that live in a rehab home. They are there by choice and my buddies Barry and Walter meet with them weekly. These guys, although struggling to get away from their addictions, are awesome. They were fresh and very encouraging. They are absorbed in the word of God and understand that if they are to get passed these addictions that they are going to have to walk with God for it to work. I also had the opportunity to share Christ in a few of the local parks. There were several young men playing ball, some fishing etc who were open to talking about their relationships with Christ.

Barry Strickland and I were able to slip away for some adventures. We went to Richland-Chambers lake near Corsicana Texas. If you have not been watching the news, Texas, especially central to east Texas has had the second wettest Summer on record and it rained on us every day. We really didn’t know how that was going to affect the fish and at first we had a hard time finding fish until we saw tons of White Bass hitting the bait fish on the surface. It was amazing. We caught like 30 fish in less than an hour.

We really felt blessed by God with the fish. It was great fun to enjoy God’s creation in this way. The lake was beautiful and the fish were biting. Really, all we did was throw spoons and retrieve. I would imagine that there were close to 2 maybe 3 thousand fish in this school. It was every cast. Bam..another fish. Really a lot of fun. I am very thankful for Barry taking the time to take me to a great Texas Lake.

We also celebrated our nations independence. We had a great time with the folks of Lancaster. We got to meet Janie Fricke.

I really didn’t have a clue who she was until I saw her Wiki…she was very gracious and lives there in Lancaster now. Her husband was a very interesting fella.. Texan for sure.

The Ameriplan Convention blew us away. We are very excited about what God is doing through this company and excited about our role therein. Its leaders spoke so much truth while we were there and glorified the name of God. They made some great changes to help the consumers as well as the business owners, if you have not heard about this, you are going to want to talk to Kryssy or I about it soon. I am sure you will be as blown away as we are.

Kryssy, Jack and I had a great time but were also glad to be home. We missed everyone and are ready to get back to ministry here. So thankful for the opportunities we had in Texas and look forward to more soon.
